Blueprint layout of how to incorporate all reading and math components in the class:
- ASKIA Magic Box: allows the student to add fractions in a fun innovative way.
- ASKIA Tree: writing method used to help students gather and organize information.
- ASKIA House: allows the student to reflect on material sought and have an abundance of strategies and patterns to utilize at will in their writing. Sequential instructional strategies focus on the skill being utilized.
- ASKIA Unstructured Sentence: students use ELA components to reconfigure the sentence.
- ASKIA Open Window: allows the student to find the denominator of a fraction.
- ASKIA Unstructured Paragraph: students will use writing conventions and syntax to determine the appropriate way to correct the paragraph.
- ASKIA Table Tops: geographical resources that present interdisciplinary content through a geography framework.
- ASKIA Play Book: booklet of all ALC strategies. A go to manual essential to improving the skills of struggling students.
- ASKIA Writing (Persuasive, Narrative, Informative, Descriptive): students will use writing methods to express themselves and channel their feelings through their writing creating a sense of self.
- ASKIA Short Stories: research components are used to reinforce reading comprehension, organizing of thoughts, as well as acquiring and using information to incorporate math skills; symbolic notation, whole numbers, and fractions.

22 Weeks of Interdisciplinary Cross Content Critical Lesson Plans
A detailed listing of lesson plans that incorporate various ALC Instructional Strategies will be provided. ALC follows Madeline Hunter’s lesson plan module, including a clear instructional objective, center instructions, and assessments to accompany each lesson.
Writing
Students will take a phrase and let a ingenious stance take hold and construct a meaningful story full of details and content from that one phrase.
- Example:
…the sound of the storm ran a jolt of electricity through….
Objective: Students will determine who, what, when, where, why, and how of the story. Using literary terms such as; metaphors, analogies, similes, synonyms, etc., each student will create their own fairy-tale/reality, full of mystery and prose.
Research Project Kit
This research project is a resource used to build upon the prior knowledge of the learner. Providing manipulatives, the learner will be expected to use various items within the kit to complete the tasks outlined in each project.
Modeling
All information will be modeled and scaffold to meet the academic needs of each learner.
